I initially approached the “Gotham War” series with some reservations, given my deep affinity for the Batman character. However, I made the decision to engage with it, and I must admit that I am pleased that I did. Moving forward, I intend to exercise greater discernment when it comes to investing in successive events of a similar nature.
Regrettably, I found “Gotham War” to be a somewhat underwhelming event. My enthusiasm waned as soon as Vandall Savage was introduced, and it transformed into a rather conventional storyline where heroes unite to face a common threat. I had hoped that the introduction of Batman’s toxin into Jason would bring about more significant consequences, but, disappointingly, such stakes failed to materialize. In my assessment, while “Gotham War” may not reach the depths of disappointment seen in the Ms. Marvel Spiderman event, it still leaves much to be desired. Consequently, I would not recommend acquiring the trade edition of this event. It may be prudent to skip this particular narrative and anticipate the forthcoming storyline in Batman #139.
